Walking is a delight here with numerous routes, from a gentle walk to a proper mountain hike. You can do these on your own, with a map (we’ll provide you with what you need) or with a guide. The Sibiliini National Park (www.sibillini.net) is on our doorstep and offers an astonishing breadth of things to see and do – wildlife, flowers and incredible topography. Horseriding is a lovely way to get a feel of the area. We have a couple of local places where you can ride in a group or on your own, for between 1 and 4 hours: try le querce agriturismo, in Sarnano.

Cycling is taken very seriously here in Italy and there are many organisations who can rent you the bike you want and advise you on the routes you can take. We can help too.

Skiing/Snowboarding are a part of winter here in Sarnano. Sassotetto, the resort, is 15 minutes away - a medium sized resort with 9 ski lifts and 9 pistes

Gaia Wildeness (www.asgaia.it) takes outdoor sports to a new level. You can try archery, canyoning, whitewater rafting and more. They’re based in Norcia about an hour away. For something a little less terrifying, you could just sit on the shores of Lago di Fiastra and do a spot of trout fishing or canoeing. The kids can have fun in the Adventure Park there and try the Zip Line that takes them across the lake.
